Below are this week’s video, discussion questions, and your assignment for next week.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What can we learn about God’s character from the name Jehovah Nissi—the LORD My Banner?
  2. Respond to Dr. Evans’s statement: “Everything visible and physical is preceded by something invisible and spiritual. If you want to deal with the visible and physical, you must address the invisible and spiritual.”
  3. Do you find it easy or difficult to ask for help? Explain.
  4. What can help us identify the line between our responsibilities and God’s responsibilities when we’re in a battle?

In the name Jehovah Nissi, the LORD My Banner I am covered! A banner is a covering so no matter how the situation looks in my life I am covered. God has made provision for me to be a victor and not a victim. He is protecting me on every side, Psalm 91 says He gives His angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways! Question 2, really says be assured of where you stand in the heavenly realm, know who fights for you and who you are fighting against.
I am not above asking for directions because I may lose my way, and another person may be gracious enough to point me in the right direction. If we keep our eyes on the Father when we are in battle we will win. He holds the key to our strength, our purpose, and even our victory. Therefore, keeping our eyes on Him is where we win.

    1. The Lord Is My Banner: The battles I am facing, I do not have to fight them alone. I am fighting under God’s banner, He is the One in charge. I follow his direction.

    2. Eph 6:12 tells us that we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces in heavenly places. Throughout the Bible we see Satan trying to defeat God through man. God always prevails. As we seek God and as our prayers are answered, the spiritual fighting we do is manifested in our daily lives. As we fight on our knees through prayer and fasting, the results are seen here in the physical realm our of lives.

    3. The older I get the more I have realized that everyone needs help. As I have grown, I have less of a problem asking. I have come to discover that you have to be able to admit that you need help and then not be afraid to ask. It is a matter of letting go of pride.

I am grateful for Jehovah Tsaba and Jehovah Nissi, I have experience them in my life, but I did not fully understand God’s nature. For, now I know how to fight my battles successfully, I would need to step aside and let Jehovah Nissi, deliver the victory. Hallelujah.
